The Sierra HD offers an available 6.6L
Turbo-Diesel Duramax V8 engine that delivers a blistering 910 lb.-ft. of torque
and up to 445 HP. GMC engineers went to work to improve the performance and
efficiency of the engine. This engine is paired with a brand-new Allison
10-speed automatic transmission that allows it to perform in an optimal range
at all times regardless of terrain conditions and load conditions.

The combination of the Duramax engine and
Allison transmission employs an exhaust brake to help control the speed of the
trailer and truck while going down hills. This works to reduce the need to use
your service brakes on steep, long grades. In addition, the exhaust brake is
connected to the cruise control system and allows it to easily maintain the set
speed, even if you're traveling over hilly landscapes.
The New 6.6L V8 Engine
The Sierra's innovations extend to its
gasoline offerings. The new 6.6L V8 is the only gas direct-injected V8 in the
HD segment. This engine produces an impressive 464 lb.-ft. of torque and up to
401 HP, which is an astounding 22% increase in peak torque and 11% increase in
HP compared to the previous gas engine. This engine is mated with the 6L90
6-speed automatic transmission.
